If you’re trying to get a sneak peak into what we have coming down the pipeline this Spring, maybe start by looking at what we did in the past. So get ready for a trip down memory lane in this #ThrowBackThursday post, as we reminisce on our past June shows.

SEUSS-ISH: A Day Of Dance at McGrew’s Zoo with Thing 1, Thing 2 & Cindy Lou Who (June Performance of 2016)

Seuss Past June Dance Performance IAD

Who doesn’t love Dr. Seuss? Defining many a childhood with his creative adventures, we re-imagined his world by incorporating our dancers of all ages! Did you know that all students (even the Little Tutus!) have the option of joining us in our June Performance? We value inclusivity and community here at the International Academy of Dance, and nothing makes you feel together like preparing for a show together!

Peter Pan (June Performance of 2017)

Peter Pan Past June Dance Performance IAD

Do you remember setting sail with us to Neverland in our Peter Pan Production? They say it takes a village to raise a child, but if Peter Pan has taught us anything, it only takes one child to raze a village! This production had huge diversity in dance styles, ages, and costume designs, but (if we had to pick) we are most proud of the astounding artwork. Big thanks to everyone who made this dream of Neverland a dancing-reality!

Wizard of Oz (June Performance of 2018)

Wizard of Oz Past June Dance Performance IAD

A timeless classic, our very own Bridget Smith (Miss Bee) starred in this retelling. The show was a grand production with costume design, set design, and a cast of all ages. And to top it off, this special production was a collaboration with Santa Cruz City Ballet and Soul Contemporary Dance. Talk about community-oriented! Doesn’t it just make you want to click your (red) shoes together?

Alice In Wonderland (June Performance of 2020)

Alice in Wonderland Past June Dance Performance IAD

Lewis Carroll was a famed writer, mathematician, and philosopher, who built a clever world called “wonderland.” Highlighting the gloriously strange, “Alice in Wonderland” showcases a young girl who finds herself in an odd and mysterious world. Our take on Alice, of course, incorporates different styles of dance. And we explore this fantastic world of logic and logic-bending.

And for this year…

It's still a Secret! Our 2022 June Performance

What will the IAD community come up with this year? Will it be something fantastic, like June dance performances in the past?We are so excited to announce that things are definitely brewing in this little Santa Cruz studio! If you’re already one of our dancers, sit tight and wait for our theme to be announced. We’re so excited for this year’s show, and so excited that you’re here with us!!
